Check out my sausage . . .
Last Sunday we decided to dust off the bikes and go for a bike ride to enjoy the good old Australian countryside.
We went down to Lysterfield Park which is about 20 mins or so from our house and was the site of the 2006 Commonwealth Games Mountain Biking course.
There are some really good mountain biking tracks all around the park, ranging from a nice easy flat one around the lake, to some really challenging ones through the forested areas. (As I had the Bear on board my bike – as seems to be the usual at the moment!) you can guess which trail we took!
Lysterfield Park is absolutely massive though and we just can’t get over how much open space there is so close to the city, the route round the lake is 5.5K so it would be a really nice running route as well.
As well as our bike riding, I thought it would be cool to take some sausages and onions and use one of the many free barbecues that are around in all the parks and open spaces and cancel out the exercise we were going to do by having a ‘sausage sizzle’ at the picnic ground. This was the first time we had attempted to use one of them although we had seen them everywhere, but they are really simple to use. So we packed up all the stuff we would need, and set about creating culinary magic.
