Blogging from Down Under

All I want for Christmas is . . .

Essentially Jess started this whole Christmas list shenanigans and I was very excited when I was tagged by the very lovely Rita at the Crafty Expat to share my Christmas list this year. I thought it was so kind of her to think of me, so I got my thinking cap on and came up with a few little things I thought she could buy me….I was thinking MacBook Pro (for my blogging!), new camera, maybe some snazzy shoes to add to my collection, a garmin watch for my parkrun exploits, you know just a few small stocking fillers!

Then I re-read the instructions and you can imagine my disappointment upon realising that no, lovely as the Crafty one is, she was not offering to fulfil my Christmas dreams with a sack full of technical stuff I think I need but don’t really understand.

Still, once over my dismay I got to thinking about what I really would put on my wish list to the Big Man himself (not the Big G Man upstairs; the slightly smaller but still Big, C Man that only turns up at Christmas).

I thought and I ruminated and then I pondered some more and came up with. . . well not very much to be honest. Before you all roll your eyes thinking I am going to say I have everything I need right here and all that schmaltzy rubbish, (although it goes without saying that I do!) It is not that, it is just that I am always like this every year, I always think of things I would like when I see them throughout the year and probably by the start of November I have worked up quite the list in my head, but then by the time it comes to start making my thoughts public so people (by that I obviously mean Father C) can arrange for the elves to deliver my hearts desire, I can never actually remember what that must have item was, and it is usually December 26th when I suddenly remember what it was I had to have. Thank goodness for the boxing day sales!

I thought long and hard though and have managed to come up with a few things I would quite fancy if the bearded one deems me to have behaved appropriately during the year to deserve them so I will throw them out there and hope he hears.

1.In the absence of a MacBookIProMac or whatever they are called could I ask simply for a new brain. You will probably find it much easier to find one of those for me than the Ithing anyway. It’s more a new blogging brain. You see I started this blogging lark back in July before I moved Down Under and really haven’t got the foggiest idea what I am doing. So I would like a new technical blogging brain so that I can work out how to snazzy up my blog.
Failing that- a copy of Blogging for Dummies would do the job too!

2. I would love it if you could somehow help me to understand Aussie Parking signs to avoid paying out 3/4 of husbs salary on fines every month. It is really getting quite irritating, the consistency with which the Melbourne Parking Enforcers have been hounding me. I think it is getting personal now. So if you could see your way clear to either assist me in reading said signs, or failing that do away with parking restrictions completely anywhere in the city that would be great!

3. I mentioned it before, but the ability to click my fingers and be anywhere in the world would be a real help too Santa, I miss my family and loved ones very much and at this time of year especially, I would love to be able to have a big family Christmas together. It makes it all the more special when there are little kids now as well as it just makes the whole thing more magical and I think makes the adults get into the excitement of the whole build up and the special day so much more. So I am extra sad I can’t be there for that.
Maybe the ability to click my fingers to get home or somehow the ability to be with my family even though I am not. If this is a bit much for you as I know you are a busy man then a consistently working internet connection would be fabulous.

To be honest I don’t think I am asking too much but if for some reason you struggle to achieve these things then a tub of ferrero rocher and a Magic Mike DVD will do. I like the simple pleasures in life!

Merry Christmas!

And the second best way is to tag others to share their Christmas List to Santa too!

  1. My wish is to finally have our pool completion date set in concrete, other than that happy to just have our family together and enjoying this festive season!!! Loving your blog babe xxDani

    • Oooh yes having a working (or in fact any in my case) pool in this weather would be fabuloso! Hope Father C grants you your wish very soon. Family is what it is all about at Christmas great that you can have yours with you at this time of year. I am looking forward to our first little Aussie Chrimbo. Then the rest of my family coming out at various times in the New Year.
Glad you are enjoying my blog. πŸ™‚

  2. Haha! I hope I didn’t disappoint you too much Rhian! I so agree with you on point 2 and 3… I wish you all the best for Christmas and the New Year!!!

  3. πŸ™‚ Not at all, (I am hoping husb reads this and takes the hint!!!!!) Wishing you a great Christmas and New Year too. x

I had no idea that Aussie parking signs were more complicated than the rest of the world! Maybe the new blogging brain could also come with sign understanding plug in? πŸ˜‰
Awesome list and thanks for joining in!

  5. That would be a great idea, and while we are at it, a ‘making it impossible to go over the speed limit’ plug in would be good too! Maybe I am just a dim pom but I really don’t understand some of them, they are just so complicated. In the Uk it just says NO PARKING if you are not allowed-I need it to be laid out nice and simply for me!
I am glad I could join in, I am hoping to take part in IBOT more often – thank you.:-)

  6. This Christmas is a little light on the social calendar for me (for various reasons) – so for Christmas I want permission to buy a super dress for when I have a social life again. Not that I need permission but I want to choose my pressie myself (and there’s little else I want except of all the cliches).

Love the instant travel – let me know when you work it out.

PS I couldn’t insert my personal blog name with the options (they don’t seem to like split personalities) so went for the easiest – sorry!

    • Hi Jo – thanks for reading, I will give you permission to go and buy a fabulous dress! Will definitely let you know when I sort out this instant travel business!
Thanks for the link I will come and visit your blog.
      Merry Christmas. πŸ™‚

  7. I totally agree with you! Aren’t the parking signs here a biatch! My husband (and I) are always bringing home parking tickets. It sucks!
Love the combination of a tub of Ferrero Rocher and the Magic Mike DVD. Great night in!!!

  8. Oh glad it is not just me then – I am sure I have spent the equivalent of a mortgage paying for flipping parking tickets!
You can’t beat chocolate and a six pack in my opinion! You are welcome to come over and join me if Santa brings me my wish of course! πŸ˜‰

  9. I just barely saw this tag because I was up to my nose in books and notes studying for finals! so sorry, but better late than never πŸ™‚ so my wish list includes :
    1. one of those little time flicker thingies from Harry Potter. why? because I am really just realizing that there are not enough hours in the day! it would really come in handy to get all those things off my list crossed off.
    2. a really great cruise trip or just a trip in general. I would love to go somewhere I know absolutely nothing about and just learn things and expand my cultural knowledge
and 3. I would really love Rosetta Stone. because I never get around to actually getting it myself. and I really need to become extremely fluent in Spanish, considering my future profession and the area I will be practicing in.

    πŸ™‚ Happy Holidays!
