Blogging from Down Under

What a tit!

I’ve mentioned before that Thursday is my busy day, and everything has to be timed to perfection to make sure that I can get to my usual gym class on time to then run to swimming straight afterwards so I am always on a pretty tight schedule to ensure that I get out of the door on time to rush over to the gym to get the Bear into creche, ensure that there are no tears or tantrums then rush up to my Body Pump class with enough time to get all my equipment so that I am ready to go when the class starts; before then running straight out of BP back down to retrieve the Bear from creche then rushing off down to the changing rooms to chuck on our swimming stuff to rush to the pool. So you see, everything, absolutely everything hangs on the success of me getting out of the house on time so that the rest can run smoothly.

Well obviously today was a bit of a disaster from start to finish really. After all I wouldn’t be blogging about it if I got up, went to the gym and came home, it would be pretty boring and wouldn’t be winning me any awards (shameless hintage there in case you missed it!). So, today started off with me emerging from my pit late and ended with me making a tit of myself.

Now for those of you who are not aware Melbourne has a little annual car race coming up at the start of March, the Grand something – I forget the name.
Well this race takes place in Albert Park and my route to the gym takes in the entire length of the circuit. Normally there is no problem with this apart from that one time, but that aside, normally, no problems.

Today due to my late rising I was completely put off whack, I bundled the Bear into the car and screeched off to try and make my BodyPump class in time. Apart from rush hour working against me in my quest to be at the peak of physical fitness, every single set of traffic lights conspired to turn an angry red just as I approached them, with the addition of the slowest trams in the history of slow trams, things were not looking good – and this was before I even got inside Albert Park. Once I negotiated the traffic lights and was safely in to Albert Park, I thought I might be in with a chance. What I did not bargain on however was the fact that the whole park is awash with diggers, trucks, cranes and ‘utes’. The Bear was in his element, I am sure at one point his head did a 360 manoeuvre whilst trying to account for them all. I, however was less impressed, in addition to the full on construction site there was a huge line of stationary traffic, I zoomed up the side smugly feeling sorry for the losers that had to continue straight on instead of turning left as I was about to do.
Until I reached my left turn, to be met with a road closed sign, no left turn, and a very angry man attempting to lynch me with his ‘Go Slow’ sign.
I opened my window still naively thinking that I would be able to go this way and I sweetly enquired to lynchy workman – he was not impressed and again poked his pole(!) at me. I quickly retreated knowing I was beaten and tried to get back into the non moving line of traffic that had watched my altercation unfold, as you can imagine, not a single bugger would let me in. I sat there a while wondering what to do and then decided I would choose a small car, put the whole weight of the monster truck into it and push my way in. My reasoning being that my Monster Truck would be more likely to crush a small car so they would have to stop for me or risk being squished by me.

DId I tell you I passed my test first time?

I slammed a U’y and emerged back into Melbourne rush hour traffic, attempting an alternative route to the gym. Blood pressure was hitting an all time high and I realised I was not going to make my class. I finally arrived 20 mins after the start of the class and it was with a sinking heart we made our way to the gym.
The gym was the busiest I have ever seen it since I joined and I really wasn’t in the mood to be waiting around for equipment, so I messed about a bit half heartedly hopping from the rower to the cross trainer and attempting to try to do some BodyPump action with the weights available in the gym. This bit again did not go as planned because the lightest weight bars in the gym are double the weight of my usual ones so when I ambled over to the very masculine weight area with a knowing glance to the guys pumping iron and attempted to pick the bar up I nearly gave myself a hernia. Embarrassing is not the word! With burning red cheeks, and attempting to look like that is exactly what I meant to do for I was just testing them out you see I wasn’t actually going to use them *ahem*. I shuffled off to my natural habitat of treadmill, at least I sort of know what I am doing there. Did 5 mins and legged it out of the gym mentioning I had to pick up my child so had to go (the implication being that I of course would have stayed and completed my workout properly if it wasn’t for my prior engagements). I don’t know why I felt the need to say this given the fact I was on my own and clearly wasn’t talking to anyone and aside from looking like a loon with weights I had now also added mad as a hatter to the list. Not a good look.
Gym – Fail

Oh . . . . . I also exposed my left boob (complete with nipplage) to the entire swimming class today. A job well done I think.

What is it about Thursdays?

Brilliant Rhe! That one should win an award all on its own. I was waiting (hoping) that the blog ‘tit’le (see what I did there!!) was a literal reference and you didn’t disappoint. You left us ‘hanging’ until the end though!!
