The Supper Market

Husb, Bear and I were invited to the Supper Market this week.

We had never heard of it before but thought it sounded quite interesting and it would be fun to go along and see what it was all about.

The Supper Market takes place in the grounds of Abbotsford Convent. The Convent is now no longer used as a Convent but instead is now a Community Hub and arts centre with lots of cool things going on there especially over the summer, including high teas, an outdoor cinema in the courtyard and of course The Supper Market.

The Supper Market opens every Friday over the Summer and there is an array of stalls from every country you can think of serving Himalayan, Mexican, and Turkish food amongst others. There were pizzas, Aussie bbq food, ice creams, home made Ginger Beer and delicious cupcakes.

There was all sorts of everything.

As well as the many food stalls there, there are also lots of craft and vintage clothing stalls dotted about within the grounds of the Convent.

It was a great atmosphere, very family friendly.
There was also a face painter for the kids, the Bear did not partake in this as he can’t keep still for longer than a millisecond and would have ended up with a black eye or something from moving his head quickly and being poked in the eye by a paintbrush (no, I don’t mean a painted on black eye).

Husb, the Bear and I really enjoyed it. We spent some time mooching about the gardens, checking out the stalls and dancing to the local band who were playing a kitsch selection of 50s style songs with a country feel. They were really good and really added to the atmosphere.

We finished it all off with some delicious Himalayan MoMos which were chicken dumpling type things – very delish. Followed by Chicken Setuwa and then some seriously gorgeous cupcakes, all washed down with home made pomegranate Ginger Beer.

It was a really lovely evening and for anyone looking for something family friendly to do while you are in Melbourne I would highly recommend it.

We will definitely try to get there again before the Summer is over.

Voting is open until 18th February so if you like my blog please would you consider nominating me for a 2013 MAD Blog Award. I would love you forever if you did.
